The Tart is Alive and Well and Baking

Yes, I know it has been a long time since I have posted.  I have loads of excuses:  I was traveling through Spain for a couple weeks, I haven't been cooking so much since The Mayor has decided to forego animal critters temporarily, and truthfully, all I really do is bake cupcakes... and since this isn't a cupcake blog, per se, I feel bad for clogging it up with items of cupcakery.

All that being said, I was compelled to write about this particular cupcake, because it got such an unusual reaction among my co-workers.  With the delivery of these cupcakes yesterday, I became a mini-celebrity of sorts for the day.  No less than three people that I know of took pictures of them (one being this one shown here, taken by Bruce C.), people Yammered about them all day yesterday and a few continued today, and one co-worker came to my office and introduced herself, as we had never met, but she said she had to come over and meet me because the cupcakes were the best she has ever had.  This adulation went on all day.  I was the Cupcake Baroness, Mistress of All Things Baked and Frosted.

And... would you believe... yes, dare I say it... it was a Martha recipe.  Well, technically, it isn't... it's from a genius named Jennifer Shea from Trophy's Cupcakes in Seattle.  But Martha had her on her show and I got the recipe from Martha's website.

So, really, all of the praise and adulation should go to Jennifer.  She is a Cupcake Goddess in my book -- it makes me want to get on a plane to Seattle to see what the hell else she is up to.  Check out her website:  Trophy Cupcakes.  It makes my heart ache.

And her recipe for these brilliant cupcakes can be found on Martha's site here.  Be forewarned.  They are a lot of work.  And as I was making them I was cursing because, please remember, I make at least 6 dozen for work... and I thought, these had better be worth it.

I honestly had no idea they would receive a reception like this.

The only problem is, I think I have peaked.  How can I possibly top it?  This is the pinnacle of cupcakes.  I might as well just use box mixes for all it matters now.  Kidding!  Kidding.  Sheesh.

Those cupcakes do seem like a lot of work, but worth it. The attention to detail that Trophy puts into every cupcake just boggles my mind! It sounds like they tasted amazing recreated at home--hooray!
